Hromadske journalist harassed online after article on military recruitment

On 17 March 2026, a journalist from Hromadske, Denys Bulavin, online harassment following the publication of his article about attacks on servicemembers working in territorial enlistment centers (TCKs), according to the Institute of Mass Information.

The harassment began shortly after the release of the article, which addressed violence against TCK personnel and the consequences for attackers. According to Bulavin, posts about him appeared on social media platforms, including Telegram, Threads, and X, where his work and personal profile were targeted.

Bulavin stated that both automated accounts and real users participated in the campaign, many of whom expressed hostility towards Ukraine鈥檚 mobilization efforts. Some posts included manipulative claims about the journalist, while comment sections contained abusive messages and calls for physical violence against him.

The journalist said he could not identify those responsible for the harassment but linked part of the campaign to a Telegram channel with a large audience, where content about him was disseminated. He described the messages as defamatory and abusive, noting that he had anticipated such reactions given the sensitivity of the topic.
